Bukit Aman says Malaysian badminton champ has given his statement to assist in investigations into the case.
KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman commercial CID director Amar Singh yesterday confirmed that national badminton champion Lee Chong Wei had filed a report over a sex video in which he is allegedly featured.
He said the athlete had given his statement to assist in investigations into the case.
“Based on the statement by Chong Wei, it is not him in the video which went viral.
“As such, we will open an investigation paper under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act as well as Section 500 of the Penal Code,” Amar told reporters at his office at Menara 238 in Kuala Lumpur.
On Monday, a three-minute video clip surfaced on social media, showing a man said to be the ace shuttler having sex with a woman in a room at an unknown location.
Many viewers were shocked, claiming the man looked like the former world number one badminton player.
