Three Including Policeman Killed In Separate Road Accidents In Pahang

KUANTAN, Jan 12 (Bernama) -- Three people, including a policeman were killed in separate accidents in Bentong and Maran today, according to the police.

In the first incident, Bentong district police chief DSP Zainuddin Abdul Hamid said an octogenarian and her granddaughter were killed after the multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) they were in skidded and rammed into a wall at km21 of the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway at 12 pm.

He said the accident occurred when the driver of the vehicle carrying five members of a family which was heading to Chendering, Terengganu from Sri Iskandar, Perak was believed to have lost control of the MPV, causing it to skid and then spin, before crashing into the rock wall.

"Minah Hassan, 82, and her granddaughter Nabilah Qistina Ahmad Zaim, 14, died at the scene," he said when contacted here adding that the bodies as well as the driver and his wife both aged 54 and their 19-year-old daughter who sustained injuries in the incident were sent to the Bentong Hospital.

In Maran, a traffic policeman was killed after the vehicle driven by his wife skidded at km145 of the East Coast Expressway at about 2.10 pm.....
