Number Of Flood Evacuees In Pahang On The Rise
KUANTAN, Jan 12 (Bernama) -- The number of flood evacuees in Pekan and Rompin continued to increase to 1,290 people as of 8pm compared to 738 people in the evening. They are housed at 12 relief centres.
Pahang Civil Defence Force director Col (PA) Zainal Yusof said in Pekan, another two new relief centres were opened at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Permatang Keledang to house 322 people and SK Sri Biram (51).
"Evacuees are at eight other relief centres namely SK Sinar Mutiara (375), SK Seri Terentang (30), SK Temai (93), Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Peramu Jaya (121), Pulau Manis relief centre (75), Kampung Tanjung Pulai community hall (39), Kampung Lamir relief centre (50) and SK Acheh (nine)," he said.
In Rompin, the number of evacuees remained at 125 people housed at SK Tekek, Tioman (63) and Leban Chondong community hall (62 victims).
In the meantime, in JOHOR, the number of evacuees in Segamat and Mersing rose to 160 people as of 9pm from 127 this evening with two new relief centres opened in Segamat district.
