Number Of Pahang Flood Evacuees Rises Due To Continuous Rain
KUANTAN, Jan 11 (Bernama) -- Continuous rain since morning caused the number of flood victims in Pahang to increase to 318 people as at 9 pm compared to 254 people this evening.
Pahang Civil Defence Force director Zainal Yusof said 64 people from 14 families in the Rompin district were being sheltered at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Tekek, Pulau Tioman.
In Pekan, 254 people are being housed in five temporary relief centres (PPS), namely SK Temai with 93 evacuees, Kampung Pulau Manis (75), Kampung Tanjung Pulai Community Hall (39), SK Acheh (nine) and Kampung Lamir (38), he said.
In Johor, the number of flood evacuees rose to 95 tonight compared to 85 this evening following the reopening of a PPS in the Mersing district.
State Health, Environment, Education and Information committee chairman Datuk Ayub Rahmat said 10 people from four families were being sheltered at the reopened PPS in SK Air Papan, while the Tenglu Besar PPS housed 34 people from eight families
Meanwhile, Segamat still records 51 flood victims being sheltered at the Gemereh 4 Community Hall in Balai Badang and Kampung Pogoh Tengah Community Hall, he said in a statement here tonight.....
