Lotteries Give Rise To Superstitious Activities - JHEAT
KUALA TERENGGANU, Jan 11 (Bernama) -- The Terengganu Religious Affairs Department (JHEAT) does not rule out the possibility of a link between lotteries and superstitious activities being carried out in the state.
"JHEAT has not been able to arrest those who are performing these superstitious acts, and only found the tools used for worship purposes (to obtain winning lottery numbers)," said Terengganu Religious Affairs Commissioner Wan Ismail Sahaimi Wan Omar, when contacted by Bernama regarding JHEAT's anti-gambling operation yesterday.
He said JHEAT had also identified the places where the activities were carried out, such as in Gua Bukit Keluang in Besut.
With regard to the operation, he said intelligence gathered by JHEAT found that lottery tickets were also being sold at motorcycle spare parts shops, eateries and grocery shops, with six people arrested in Kuala Nerus and one at an eatery in Gong Badak .
"At the time of arrest, all the individuals aged between 30 and 72 had lottery number receipts placed in their pockets, wallets, while some still held them in their hands," he said.....
