KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 9 (Bernama) -- National karate athletes are required to maintain their outstanding performance for 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia and Karate Premier League (2020 Tokyo Olympic Games qualifiers) from Feb to Oct.
Malaysian Karate Federation (MAKAF) secretary-general Vincent Chen said the national karate squad has the important job of winning medals at the Asian Games in August and qualifying for 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
"2018 is a very challenging year. The coaches need to review the training programme so that the athletes can peak in all competitions. This is In contrast to 2014 Incheon Asian Games in South Korea.
"We have yet to receive technical manuals from the Asian Games organiser (Indonesia). As such, we do not know how many events and categories will be contested," he told reporters after submitting the list of athletes to Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) Selection Committee (MOM) here, today.
Chen said all participating countries would also face time constraint because the athletes would only be given two days to train at the competition venue.....
